popes80

Time passes, but there are artists who remain uncombustible, proving that music has no age. In this Popes80 report, we review the 50 most veteran Spanish pop and rock artists who are still active, from the pioneers to those who, although somewhat younger, have been conquering stages for decades, always with the certainty that the best is yet to come.

The great pioneers of Spanish pop

We open the ranking with Manuel and Ramon, the legendary Dynamic Duo, who in their 87 years old They remain living pop history. In their wake, we find Carlos Zubiaga, member of The Consortium, with 83 years old, and iconic figures such as Joan Manuel Serrat and Miguel Rios, both 80 years old and witnesses to the evolution of music in our country.

Among the veterans also stands out Juan Marquez, bassist and founder of rockers Coz, who, with 79 years old, is still active on the stage, as well as Amaya Uranga (77 years old), one of the voices that defined Mocedades.

The classics of the 70s and 80s: Between rock and singer-songwriter

The teacher Joaquin Sabina (75 years old) is an expert in resurrections -and is on tour-, while Santiago Auseron, alias Juan Perro, continues to reinvent Spanish rock in his 69 years old. In parallel, urban rock has in Johnny Cifuentes (68 years old), from Burning, and Manolo Garcia (68 years old), from El Último de la Fila, two of its greatest exponents.

On the other hand, figures such as Miguel Bose (67 years old) and Luz Casal (66 years) represent the ability to connect generations, while names like Jaime Urrutia and Javier Gurruchaga, both with 65 years, they hold high their eighties flag and their subsequent adventures.

The generation of the 60s and 70s: Innovators and referents

In this category we find artists who consolidated pop-rock as Ana Torroja (64 years old), from Mecano, and Loquillo (63 years old), undisputed icon of Spanish rock. Also notable are duets such as Accomplices, with Maria Monsonís (65 years old) and Teo Cardalda (62 years old), as well as Alvaro Urquijo (62 years old), leader of Los Secretos.

Young veterans: Decades of experience

Already in our fifties, Mikel Erentxun (58 years old) and Fito Cabrales (58 years old) are perfect examples of how to continue growing by reinventing yourself every day. The unmistakable voice of Marta Sanchez (58 years) or the energy of Jesus Cifuentes (Celtas Cortos, 58 years old) close our ranking, always in the best moment.

This review not only celebrates the artistic longevity, but also the capacity for reinvention of each of these musicians, who, despite the passage of time, continue to fill stadiums and connect with new generations. Spanish music has in them its best memory, and, at the same time, a legacy that continues to be written every day.
